NIV: The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
KJV: There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Just a heads up, those “beings” aren’t what you are saying. Imagine if Gd would pretty much flood the world because of angelic beings. Doesn’t add up, those people are very powerful people such as kings or noble men.
You could be right. I wasn’t there, so I don’t know 🙂
Regarding: “Imagine if Gd would pretty much flood the world because of angelic beings. Doesn’t add up…” Likely true. But there may be more to the equation. Let’s just say other world/realm beings had relationships with humans, it is true that the Gd we learn about in Torah (the One who commands love the stranger) would most likely NOT find that reason enough to destroy humanity. BUT if humans decide to break their moral compass, lose themselves, and ignore their relationship with the Almighty for these other beings or their ways… That i could see as a justifiable reason for destruction. So it wasn’t due to the other beings necessarily, but rather the human population’s behaviors/decisions regarding the conditions that caused their demise.
Or it could be elitist kings/noble men etc. Either way, one of the lesson for me is do NOT have any other gods. There is only ONE.
